Motorcycle Season Recap

The weather’s cold and the roads are covered. Mother Nature has officially spoken: riding season is over. While the fact that you have to wait months to hit the open road again might grind your gears, we’ve come with good news.

We took a look at riding statistics in 2019 and compared them to 2018, and numbers improved in almost every category, including number of fatal crashes, number of riders wearing safety gear in a crash, number of South Dakotans involved in crashes and more. Take a look for yourself.

Crash Statistics

*Stats as of October 2019

The improvement in numbers wasn’t without effort. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety and Office of Highway Safety worked together to educate riders, spread safety awareness, ensure proper training was available, provide resources such as SouthDakotaRides.com and more.

Beat Death. Save Your Skin. Share The Road

With your help, we can make South Dakota an even safer place to ride in 2020. Educate yourself on motorcycle safety, get the proper training and always ride with the right gear. See you in the spring.
